August 23rd, 2014: JOE’S PUB CONCERT!~

I am so excited to have my first concert at Joe’s Pub coming up on September 15th. I have been hard at work writing new material, and am excited to share it with the help of some incredible guest performers. Tickets are still cheap for the next few days! And they can be found here.

The show will be featuring various original works, including from my upcoming musical, “The Wave”. If you haven’t heard about it, here is the gist:

In 1967, a history teacher in Palo Alto turned an entire high school into a proto-fascist movement in just five days. While trying to demonstrate the national mentality in Germany during WWII, Ron Jones conduced an experiment which was to show how community and discipline can create something that is bigger than the individual, often with disastrous effects. He called it ‘The Wave.’

I have been so lucky to have this summer to write, and just got back from the wonderful UCross Artist Residency, where I was able to live in a private cabin with a gorgeous grand piano overlooking the mountains. Truly spectacular. I hope to see you all at the show!

Love as always,

July 28th, 2014: Blues, Nature, and Theatre

It has been so long since I’ve shared an update, and I think an update is due! In the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of making music in many cities and venues. I spent a week developing a new project on the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard, swam in the rivers of Williamstown, MA, and tomorrow I’m heading out to Nashville to play some blues with the amazing Nick Moran. It has been a wild and exciting summer. Most importantly, I am slowly making the transition from being an interpreter and music director to a full-time composer and writer. It is a journey I have been waiting to take for years, and finally I am honored to be able to do so through some incredible opportunities I can’t wait to share with you in the near future. In the meanwhile, enjoy this gorgeous summer weather! תמונה (1)

I can’t tell you all how thrilled I am about the past 3 months. I have been hard at work, serving as the Music Director of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, which is running off-broadway all summer. Last week we opened this amazing show down at Kazino, to rave reviews from the New York Times et al. I have the great fortune of conducting this amazing cast and orchestra every night. Please treat yourself and come see it. You won’t be disappointed!

Much love always,

Whew! Just got back from a crazy tour in Europe, stopping in Kosovo, Austria, and Germany. What an honor playing for the US Troops at each location, and lifting their spirits during the this holiday season. I’ll be heading to Israel for a few weeks, but will be back at full force on FEB 1st at the GRAMERCY THEATRE! Come check me out with the awesome Rubix Kube, and hear the best 80’s tribute band the world has ever seen.

Much love and music in 2013,

P.S – Fresca keeps you very refreshed in the army barracks.

This is what my apartment has become:

I’m very excited to be traveling to Europe at the end of the month for some shows with Rubix Kube! In the meanwhile, check out my shows in NY with some wonderful rising artists! More soon!
